Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about our methodology, pricing, and how the AI tutor helps you learn.
Philosophy & Differentiation
How is Mentrast different from ChatGPT or Claude?
While LLMs are powerful reasoning engines, they are not teachers. They prioritize fluency over accuracy and will often allow you to skip foundational concepts. Mentrast is a 'curriculum engine' first. We wrap the AI in a rigid pedagogical framework that enforces a structured learning path. We don't just answer your questions; we force you to prove you understand the answers before moving forward.
Why does the system restrict access to certain topics?
We believe that true mastery is built on a solid foundation. In traditional learning, you can often skim through chapters without understanding the core principles, leading to fragile knowledge. Mentrast ensures you have mastered each prerequisite concept before moving forward. This ensures that when you reach advanced topics, you actually possess the mental models required to understand them.
Is this platform suitable for beginners?
Mentrast is optimized for serious learners—people who are self-driven and willing to put in the effort. While a beginner can certainly use it, the system focuses on mastery rather than gamification. It is a rigorous environment designed for efficiency. If you are looking for competence and deep understanding, you are in the right place.
The Deep Tutoring Engine
How does the engine generate my learning path?
Mentrast builds a custom roadmap based on your specific objective. Instead of a static course, it identifies every concept required to reach your goal, assesses what you already know, and generates the most efficient route. It is the shortest path between your current knowledge and total mastery.
How do you prevent AI hallucinations?
We use a multi-step verification process. First, the AI constructs the logic graph based on verified academic texts and documentation. Second, the system requires you to 'verify' the knowledge through active problem solving. If the AI provides an explanation that seems off, our 'Adversarial Review' agents (running in the background) flag it for consistency against the ground-truth verification graph.
What happens if I take a break from learning?
Your progress is saved, but knowledge fades over time. Mentrast tracks how well you remember each concept. If you take a long break, the system will identify areas where your understanding might be fading and recommend a quick review before you move on to new, harder material.
Does the system support code and mathematical notation?
Yes. The platform is built natively for STEM. We support full LaTeX rendering for mathematics and have an embedded code execution environment for programming concepts. You can run Python, JavaScript, and Rust directly within your verification sessions.
Business, Data & Enterprise
what keeps my cognitive data private?
We operate on a 'User Sovereignty' model. Your personal knowledge graph, notes, and verification history are encrypted with a key unique to your account. We do not use your personal learning data to train our foundational models without your explicit opt-in. We can see the *shape* of your graph (topology) to optimize performance, but not the specific *content* of your private notes.
Will there be a version for Teams or Enterprises?
Yes. We are currently piloting 'Mentrast for Teams' with select engineering organizations. This allows technical leads to define a 'Target Graph' (e.g., 'Our Internal System Architecture') and have their team bridge the gap from their current knowledge to that target. It provides a dashboard for engineering velocity and knowledge gaps.
What is the long-term pricing model?
During our Public Beta, Mentrast is free for everyone. After the beta, we will introduce tiers: 'Learner' for individuals and 'Pro' for power users who need advanced features. We are committed to always offering a generous free tier for students and independent researchers.
